Rover's Rations: An Organix Pet Food Giveaway

    Earning His Keep
One thing about my dogs, they sure don't mind working for their chow. It's a good thing too, since this blogging gig doesn't really pay all that well. Getting free help isn't easy, ya know?

A while back we did a series of articles on our dog food of choice: Organix. I made no secret of the fact that this is the one food that meets my criteria--made in the US with organic ingredients and consistently, reliably available.

Now I have an opportunity to help more of you give Organix a try. I'll be offering periodic giveaways of FREE bags of our fave food. You can learn more about this company and their products at their website and their facebook page. To keep up with what's new, you may want to stop by and "Like" their FB page and subscribe to their newsletter at the website above. I like to follow them on Twitter as well. Find local retailers at their store locator. And finally, at the bottom of this post, you'll find a link list of articles I've written on Castor and Pollux's food, it's uses, tips, and even some recipes for fun ways to get healthy goodness into your pet.

Now let's have some fun and run an extra easy giveaway: 5 Free bags (5.25 lb. bags) of Organix dog food. Starting today, we'll test drive this somewhat different giveaway format with a few new methods, so read the rules carefully and then join in the fun:

    • One entry per person per day, so it's going to be super simple!
    • Quote something you learned from one of my earlier posts. You'll find the links to them below. Pick any post you like and tell me what you learned, OR
    • Tweet "We learned more about Organix @CastorPolluxPet by reading @AllThingsDog". Be sure to swing back by and leave me a comment to register this entry from Twitter.
    • That's it; you're done! Sit back and enjoy the week, or visit our other giveaway for a pet carrier for pint sized pups with fashion savvy.
Entries to this giveaway will close at 5 PM Thursday, August 18th. Winners will be announced late Friday afternoon, August 19th. Here's your Organix library of healthy food articles to choose from:

    1. Our Pet Food Pantry: A Little History
    2. Your Dog's Food: Why is Organic Healthier?
    3. Our Dogs' Food: The Big Decision
    4. Dog Food D-Day: The Big Reveal
    5. Surprise Dog Toys Awarded to Observant Winners
    6. Organix Dog Food Giveaway: 12 Bags of Healthy Goodness
    7. Busy Bones Go Organic with Organix
    8. Organix Busy Bones a Big Hit
    9. Small Dog Issues: Tear Stains Reduced with Organic Dog Food
    10. Organix Crumb Cookies Get Kudos
    11. Gradual Dog Food Changes for Calm Tummies

Full disclosure: The free bag coupons in this giveaway were not compensation for this post. I was not paid to run this giveaway, nor am I obligated to anyone to give away these bags of food. The coupons are mine and I offer them as a perk to my readers for visiting All Things Dog Blog. Thank you for reading.

This giveaway is available only to winners with U.S. addresses (1 per household) in the lower 48 states. Participants must be 18 or older. This offer is void where prohibited.

Petmate's Luxury Curvations Makes for Comfy, Soft-Sided Travel

    This is My Carrier?
I'm about to confuse Oliver for sure. He has posed for this picture, thinking this funky looking pillow thing next to him is.....what? He's not sure. I know I love the animal-inspired print of soft pink and brown--not too girly, yet really fashionable.

    Upside Down--Starting to Unzip
Let's open it up and see what's inside. Zippers around the side separate the top from the bottom, which will reassemble into the respective top and bottom of the ultimate carrier. Come along with me and see how it works.

    Here's the Carrier's Sides
A firm, foam material is used to make the underlying product, with beautiful fabric covering it for a savvy look. Unzip and open up to reveal what will be the sides of the carrier, stored inside, all folded up. The whole thing weighs just ounces and is ever so much more attractive than the typical carrier that may have only 2 or 3 mesh windows. This siding allows for much better air circulation than the typical mesh siding on many common carriers. Let's see how we put it together:

    Pop Up the Walls
    The Door is Screened
After unfolding the walls, they pop up like this picture at left. As you can see, the door is screened and has double zippers. I was especially impressed with the hook closure (zipper to zipper)to assure that a tiny snout doesn't press through a small opening to make a quick escape.

Inside, a washable, padded liner makes for soft bedding for Fido. Now you simply zip the bottom of the carrier to the liner, just as you would a jacket zipper. Same thing with the top. Viola!'

    Assembly Complete in a Jiffy
Tanner has decided that this must be a handbag or some such silliness for me. We'll have to let Oliver inspect. I unzip the door and invite him to check it out.

Would your pint-sized pup enjoy this beautiful carrier? It's perfect for any small pup up to 15 pounds like a Yorkie, Chihuahua, Pomeranian, or any similarly sized dog. In case you're wondering, Oliver is a 10 lb. Papillon.

What do we like best about this carrier? The 360 degree air circulation is great for travel, when sometimes carriers may be crowded among other baggage in a car, airline seating, or even up against a cargo area wall in an SUV. All around air assures that your pup can  have visibility and fresh air from whichever direction is needed. I also appreciate the security door clasp, as Tanner has an occasional habit of playing Houdini. When he gets bored, he'll sometimes help Oliver escape his crate, so they can explore together.

     "This Works for Me, Mom!"

Of course the stowaway design, allowing the carrier to be collapsed when no longer needed, is a big advantage when you just need a carrier for travel from point A to point B. Storage space is always at a premium; this design was highly creative.

For dogs that are happily crate trained, this carrier can also serve as his home away from home--a retreat from a busy household or just a quiet, safe place to nap, where he's out of the way of traffic.

If you're planning a getaway with your toy-sized dog and think this carrier suits your style, you can get a closer look at Petmate's site, ask questions at their Facebook page or online at Twitter. You can order one from Petsmart's online site here. Don't you just love the girly color?!!!

Anybody out there want to win one of these adorable Luxury Curvations Pet Carriers by Petmate? I have one up for grabs and one lucky reader can win it with a few quick clicks of the mouse. Today we're testing out a new method of entry. Unlike my other drawings, these entries will remain open till midnight on Thursday, August 18th. Leave me a comment if you'd like to let me know how you enjoy this new Rafflecopter entry route:

Full disclosure: Petmate provided this carrier for us to review. We were not paid to review the carrier, or to provide postiive feedback. While we very much like this carrier, we have chosen to give it away to one of you, since we have a carrier already.

This giveaway is available to winners with North American addresses, with the exception of Quebec (sorry, laws prohibit our participation there). Participants must be 18 or older. This offer is void where prohibited.
