Dog Travel with Ease: The Snoozer Takes Over! Posted: 03 Aug 2011 09:01 PM PDT by Carrie Boyko, CEB
We'll be bringing footballs to Blogpaws for next year's Super Dog Sunday event. Last year when some would-be participants were not able to pull off a photo, we learned that they just couldn't come up with a football-themed item to include in their pic. We plan to fix that problem this year by handing out footballs to as many bloggers as we can meet. Missy from Dogs for the PAWS helped us out with the footballs. Oliver packed his Snoozer rolling pet carrier (like a carrier on wheels) up with as many as possible and we're looking forward to meeting everyone at Blogpaws. It's a bit crowded in there, but he seems happy, right? Somehow, though, I'm thinking we'll have to coerce him into shipping the footballs separately. After all, where's he going to snooze in this Snoozer when it gets to be naptime? I don't really think he thought this through, so we'll work on it. We did look at other options when we visited Global Pet Expo. We already knew we were headed for D.C. for Blogpaws, so a carrier on wheels was definitely a must. After all, a chunky 10 lb. dog is a handful in a carrier (written with tongue in cheek), so I decided I liked the option of rolling or backpacking Oliver in a small carrier.
We shopped and shopped the booths, knowing we had to find just the right one. The Snoozer won this contest! This super cool rolling pet carrier, converts to a backpack as well, so I can change my mind and switch it up a bit when needed. Pretty cool, huh?
Now let me tell you about some of the other features of this nifty traveler for pups. The top, front and one side are all made of durable mesh, allowing for plentiful visibility. I know Oliver will enjoy being able to see where we're headed as we roll around from place to place. Almost as important as visibility are the pockets on each side. There's room for his leash, some treats and a package of doodie bags--all the really important stuff. We'll be traveling with a small bag of Organix treats and some Flush Puppies to be sure we can take care of all of Oliver's major needs. I have a collapsible water bowl that will also fit into one pocket, so I can share my water with him no matter where we are.
I'm sure you're all just drooling over this great carrier. I love that I have the option of rolling or backpacking him. It fits my travel style well. And Oliver seems to think the top opening is pretty handy for seeing the view, no matter where we are. The design was clever, making the top and front each open separately. And there's no worries about losing your little furry friend. Each Snoozer comes with a short attachment leash and hook on the inside, so you can secure him while you roll or backpack your buddy through airports, hotels and shopping expeditions. What a great way to travel!

Dog Travels: Packing for Oliver's Trip to Blogpaws Posted: 03 Aug 2011 09:01 PM PDT by Carrie Boyko, CEB
Oliver must know there's something exciting coming up. He's been spending a lot of time practicing and posing for travel photos. And the decisions--oh my! Today we had to go through his wardrobe and pick three Tshirts for Blogpaws to pack in his new Solvit HomeAway Travel Organizer. We decided on his All Things Dog Blog logo shirt, a Dogs for the PAWS Tshirt, and another that we'll keep secret for a fun surprise. His travel bag is much cooler than mine. It carries his food (Organix travels with us everywhere we go!), his water, two bowls, his poop bags (we like Flush Puppies because they're so eco-friendly), and even bandanas, Tshirts, and important "don't-leave-home-without-its" like dental bones and a ball. More below....
You would think that Oliver is just about ready to go, with all the loot in the photo up there, but there is still more to consider. Be sure to check back for more on Oliver's travel preparations. Did you notice the cool collapsible bowls with Oliver's travel kit? And the food bag that that holds 10 cups of food seals up really tight to make sure his chow stays fresh. We'll be able to travel with a one-liter BPA-free, polycarbonate water bottle to make sure there's always some wet stuff for Oliver on the trip. There's even room inside the bag to take along our new microfiber towel in case Oliver needs a touch up in the tub or gets rained on. He vetoed the idea of an umbrella. No girly stuff for Oliver! It's a very nice kit with all sorts of cool pockets for all those little things that every puppy needs; don't forget the leash, collar, tags and harness. There's plenty of room for it all in this great bag. If you would like more detail, check here. Are you thinking about taking a trip with your fido? The nice folks at Solvit Products would like to help make your preparations easier. You can visit their site's retail locator for assistance in finding a store near you that carries their travel, mobility and access products. You can also order your own organizer online through Amazon.
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment about your pup's travel plans. If you'd like to get extra entries to improve your chances, here's more possibilities:
