Summer is over. Can you believe it?
After taking a bit of a summer hiatus to work on some of our other beloved projects such as my Open Paw, Ian's SIRIUS Academy for Dog Trainers, and Jamie's "The Universe Verse" series of scientific, rhyming comic books, Ian, Jamie and I are ready to rock the new school year by providing loads of new content for the Dog Star Daily site this fall.
We're also working on a redesign of the DSD homepage and navagation. If you have any recommendations or comments, they are always appreciated. We love to hear from you and respond to nearly every inquiry we get, one way or another.
Other things that have happend since you've last heard from us (it's been a while!):
We said goodbye to our sweet, big red dog Claude earlier this year. Ian and I adopted Claude in 2000 and he graced us with his presence for a decade of lounging, lettuce eating, and love. He was an adult when we got him, probably at least two years old, maybe more. He had a good life and was instumental in teaching doggy etiquette to many a young-puppy-pretender over the years. We are very grateful for the time we had together, though we miss him dearly every single day.
Prior to Claude's departure, we welcomed an adolescent Beauceron, Zou Zou, (formerly Gigi) into our home. Zou is an energetic young girl, to say the least. She's Lucille Ball, Lindsay Lohan, and Zenyatta the thoroughbred all rolled into one and we are thoroughly enjoying her prescence in our lives. She's added humor, female energy, and a bit of herding-dog goodness to our pack.
Dune just celebrated his eighth birthday in August (8 years old already!) and is mostly going strong. He's leader of the pack now and had taken on his new role with the poise and dignity typical of his breed type.
Hugo-Louis, always up for a challenge, both placed and earned his NW1 titlte at a National Assoicaiton of Canine Scent Work trial this spring, and is now gearing up to perform in Rally Obedience later this year.
Uggs and Mayhem continue to be cats.
Dog Star Daily will be five years old this January, so we are gearing up for a celebration of sorts as well.
Many thanks to all of you for tuning in and taking the time to train your dog. This is only the beginning. Let the games begin!
~ Kelly
