We've got puppies on the brain! December is puppy season for the Northern Hemisphere and new puppies are prime for training. While of course it's possible to teach an old dog new tricks, we love the opportunity to help pups start off on the right paw.

Coincidently, January is also our very own SIRIUS® Puppy & Dog Training's birthday, and this year is a big milestone as SIRIUS turns 30.

10 Important Skills To Teach Your Pup

Dr. Roger Abrantes believes that there are at least ten skills puppies need in order to learn to live in harmony with us in our human world.

He also believes that it is our responsibility to teach our pups these skills, as they don't necessary come naturally to dogs. Dr. Abrantes feels that all pups deserve to be taught: their name, the meaning of the words yes and no, to come when called, to sit and stay seated upon request, to walk politely on a leash, appropriate elimination habits, to be comfortable around people and in new environments, and how to cope with being left home alone.
