Fido's Freebie Friday Looking Forward to Holiday Fun

Posted: 10 Nov 2011 01:00 PM PST

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
Can you believe there are only two weeks left until Thanksgiving?  With family and company coming in throughout the holidays I'm excited and looking forward to seeing the people I miss most during the year.

Tanner and Oliver enjoy family gatherings as much as I do. Their enthusiasm for visitors is evident in the wagging tails and their race to the front door each time the bell rings. This is their favorite part, with the possible exception of the smell of wonderful foods cooking.

If you've come to Fido's Freebie Friday looking for goodies to win for your Fido or Fluffy, this is the place. Please take your time perusing the listings and click through to those that appeal to you. Keep in mind that giveaways are added through midnight on Friday, so check back over the weekend to see what else has popped up.

Thanksgiving Schedule Change

Fido's Freebie Friday will be open on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday for linkups. I plan to leave my giveaways running open for 2 full weeks through Friday, December 2. This will also allow me to take a little time away from the blog to spend with visiting family and handle other tasks. Watch for a bumper crop of giveaways that will be sure to peak your enthusiasm. Don't miss this big opportunity to win lots of goodies.

The #BarkFriday Twitter Party will be one of the other tasks. I hope to see you all there on Black Friday at 11:00 AM EST. We'll be giving away about 6 dozen prizes related to the Twitter Party and offering tips for saving money during the party chatter. If you have not yet RSVP'd, please visit my announcement post to do so. You'll find links to helpful Twitter articles in the left sidebar if you need assistance.

For Bloggers and Pet Sites

We're happy you've joined us to promote your contests, giveaways and sweepstakes. Feel free to list any number of posts or links to your events that involve free stuff for pets or free pet-themed stuff for pet lovers. To reiterate what I mentioned above, Fido's Freebie Friday will be open on Thanksgiving Day and the following day. I hope to see you then.

If you need assistance with FTC guidelines, help with linking up, information on the Facebook rules for contests, or photo tips, check these links to our Help Page. Our two rules for linkups are:
  • Fido's Freebie Friday Blog Hop is open to posts about giveaways, contests, drawings, prizes, and freebies for pet products or services only, including pet-related or pet-themed items for owners. Feel free to link up multiple items if you have more than one giveaway going on.
  • Please post the badge above (the code is in the sidebar and also on the HELP PAGE) or a link to this post in your Fido's Freebie Friday blog post and invite your readers to tell us you sent them. Your hosts are All Things Dog Blog and Doggies and Stuff. You may also find some of these giveaways at other sites such as:

Planet Dog's Sustainable Wood Chuck Takes Fetch "Green"

I Think I Have Tanner's Attention!
Gone are the days of tennis balls that lay in landfills forever. Plastic ball throwers move aside. Planet Dog's Wood Chuck has stepped in with an Eco-friendly chucker for girls like me who are eternally throwing-challenged.

Made of a bamboo body with  reused cork scraps for a grippable, sweatproof handle, the bambo Wood Chuck doesn't stop there at sustainability. The ball that comes loaded in its throwing  mechanism is an Orbee-Tuff RecycleBall. Check out what I learned about this Earth-friendly product at their website:

"What other toy company takes their leftover material and makes productive use of it? We don't know of any. Our RecycleBALLS® are made from "regrind" - 100% 1st quality Orbee-Tuff® material that would otherwise be discarded."

Yes, Definitely!
When our Planet Dog Wood Chuck arrived, Tanner and I had to head for the dog park, where there was room for a real thrower to show off! As it turned out, Tanner enjoyed a great game of Fetch with a friendly Chocolate Lab as well, while other dogs experimented with the chewability of the toy intermittently. Suffice it to say this ball got a good workout. Despite its softer feel and flexibility, it has continued to hold up well under numerous power jaws it has come in contact with.

All balls eventually split, and when they do, they deserve the proper burial, out of Fido's reach in the recycle bin or dumpster. Don't leave a torn or busted ball out for play, as this becomes a dangerous plaything. Replacement Orbee-Tuff RecycleBalls are available at pet superstores and online.

Planet Dog's labeling for the Wood Chuck also mentions that some tennis balls fit nicely into the holder. It simply depends on the age and wear of the ball, which affect its flexibility for fitting into the holder.

No laughing at my throwing form. I know I throw like a girl. You don't see Tanner complaining, now do you? Of course not! He knows a good Fetch game always starts with mom. After all, Mom taught Tanner the game. Enjoy the show. Then  let's have some fun with a giveaway. We love a sustainable toy!

No purchase is necessary to win. The Wood Chuck shown in these photos was provided for a product review; I was not paid to evaluate this product. The opinions included here are my own. Feel free to check out my Giveaway and Contest Rules for more detailed information.

I know. I know. The photo stinks. I'm racing the clock here and sometimes quality falls by the wayside. Forgive me? Two winners get to collect a container of cookie cutters. The ones on the left are dogs--8 different breeds.

The red cookie cutters are Fall to Winter themed, including a turkey, Christmas tree, Fall leaf, acorn, pumpkin and an owl.

Enter  by leaving a method of contact and your preference of selection "seasonal or dogs". I'll draw from the comments using Random. org.

You may enter once with the above comment, and you may tweet about this giveaway daily and leave the link to your tweet in a comment. No Rafflecopter for this giveaway. Entries close on Thursday, November 17th at midnight. Winners will be announced on Friday, November 18. Best of luck to you all.

These cookie cutters were purchased by me and are being given away as a promotional event. There is no purchase necessary to win. Entrants must be 18 or older and have a U.S. or Canadian address. Residents of Quebec are not able to enter due to their laws. Please consult my Giveaway and Contest Rules for further clarification.
