Today's weekly preview is coming from me....again. Oliver is napping so soundly he cannot be roused for his weekly job. Too much biking this morning? Maybe.

This past week's product reviews are certainly drawing a great deal of attention. Dogs Unleashed provided a beautiful array of products to make bathtime easier and what dog owner doesn't want a few packages of free organic treats from NatureNosh. And then there are the dog books for kids that are catching the eye of many a mom or grandmom. If you're interested in entering to win these great prizes, click the links above to get started.

Today's introduction of our new Ask the Vet columnist has already brought email. Dr. Mark Nunez is excited to have been a guest writer here last week, and now will be joining us to assist with your dog health questions. You can read more about Dr. Mark at the link and watch for his first Ask the Vet answer this week.

Don't miss Petfinder's great video tomorrow that will have you rolling on the floor. Can you imagine what things would be like if the tables were turned? Come see what happens when dogs do the adopting and we are the ones on leashes going home. Be sure to bring your imaginations!

Michael Baugh has a great Ask the Trainer piece coming this week to help you better understand the challenges of training a dog without creating a noisemaker. Great stuff.

Our Doggie Surprise Grab Bags have been well-received and a fun way to share my thankfulness for all your diligent reading, commenting and following. Another reader will earn a Grab Bag on Thursday, as we bring you our product review and giveaways time of the week.

This week's review of Petmate's Floatimals has Tanner wanting to swim all day long. You know how we get wrinkly skin when we stay in the pool too long? Be sure to check out this great product review and join in the fun with a giveaway of Floatimals through next week. Watch for other giveaways as well.

Of course, Fridays are big. Announcing the winners of our giveaways is my favorite part of the week. Next week's winners will include 6 lucky dogs getting 4 bags each of NatureNosh USDA Organic treats, 1 batch of kids books, and several winners will be getting some bath supplies from Dogs Unleashed.

It should prove to be a fun day, and no less because it will also be Fido's Freebie Friday. That's the day we invite other bloggers here to participate in our giveaway collection for you to check out. You'll find all sorts of prizes for pets, pet lovers and pet owners. Join in the fun and see what you'd like to enter to win.

Finally, with the Saturday Pet Blogger hop I'll be wrapping up my series on pet care while you're away. Hope to see you all soon. If you're worried about missing any of the great content mentioned here, simply click the "Subscribe" button at the top of the post. You'll be prompted to set up an email subscription and be done in a jiffy. Happy tails!

A Changing of the Guard Dog: Meet Your New Ask the Vet Columnist

He's one balanced canine. Well, at least his blog is, as you can see from the header image shown here. Mark Nunez is not just a veterinary doctor, he is one that is extremely fascinated by dog behavior. His off hours are often spent sharing behavior tips with the readers of his blog, The Balanced Canine

Dr. Mark is eager to step up and take on our Ask the Vet column, knowing that it will give him more opportunity to reach dog owners who need assistance. If you've been around All Things Dog Blog this week, you may have already sampled his writing, as he took a test drive of our system with his guest post, Dog Care: Do's and Don'ts for First Time Owners. Lucky for us, he didn't bail after working with me on one post. He's decided to stick it out and hang with us for a while. So, it appears that Dr. Mark will be here to create a little veterinary Zen for All Things Dog Blog readers, myself included.

I first met Dr. Mark via Twitter. I've now discovered he's also on Facebook. His work keeps him busy at Levittown Animal Hospital and somehow, on top of all this, he finds time to run his own veterinary pharmacy. We finally got very well acquainted via another technology, Skype. It's a delightful tool indeed. How did we ever get along without it? Anyway, after all this techno-networking, it all came down to one thing....

What really sold me on Dr. Mark was his bio at his blog. His concerns about so many families choosing euthanasia when they are unable to manage a pet's behavioral issues was the driving force behind his desire to share tips with his patients on managing behavior issues in their pets. This very thing is what prompted me to start All Things Dog Blog.

Years ago a family I knew bought a puppy. When the puppy was a handful they turned it in to the Humane Society and proceeded to get yet another dog. This cycle repeated itself a total of 5 times that I am aware of, leaving me frustrated and agitated that anyone would be so careless as to give up on a pet so easily. Certainly one failed bonding could be rationalized. But 5?

Dr. Mark joins us to assist with offering All Things Dog Blog readers the information that they need to keep their pet healthy and happy, as we continue sharing our lives together with them. Problem solving is my department. And of course we have trainers who can answer your tough training questions. We all have them from time to time--questions, I mean.

Adoptable Pets: A Tour of States Goes to Louisiana Bayou Country

Thinking about heading to Louisiana brings to mind a few breeds that are known to be popular in that area. As I hit Petfinder's site, I'm curious to see if there will be a large number of Coonhounds and Catahoula Leopard dogs. Now's the time to find out.

Jett
Well, well, did I call that or what? Check out Jett, a Bluetick Coonhound and Catahoula Mix. I'm laughing to myself, but that doesn't help poor Jett. He's apparently a very sweet dog who seems to get along well with other dogs and cats. He's sweet, but seems to be overlooked at the rescue. Will you give Jett a second look?

Beavis
Let's see what we find when we go hunting for smaller dogs in Louisiana. I think Beavis was a surprise. He's a very young Corgi mix available in Bunkie, Louisiana. Corgis are small, low to the ground, herding dogs. Beavis is not likely to be terribly large but he will need plenty of exercise, as will Jett. Please consider the need of each breed as you weigh your options for a pet. You'll want to pick a dog whose needs can be met by your family, and who will fit in with your activity level.

Mia
Mia is seeking a home where she can lay around and possibly be a lap cat. She's not the most playful girl, but she has a sweet disposition and a beautiful coat. If you're looking for a calm, friendly companion, Mia is just what you want. She's available for adoption in New Roads, Louisiana.

Pepper
Now I'm off on a rabbit hunt. Let's see what we find in Louisiana bunnies. Pepper is a large adult rabbit who is easy going and enjoys a good rub. She has been adopted once, but was returned a few years later. She seems to settle into new surroundings with ease. Pepper sounds like a nice girl who would make a good pet. She is accustomed to using a litter box and is ready for a permanent home.
