Thanks to Sophie for Her Enthusiasm
Another week. Another giveaway. I love my job! Today I get to play Santa Claus and give away 6 of the Orbee-Tuff Balls™. I've used Random.org to select the winning numbers from your comments at the Review Post, and each winner will be getting a different color combination from their selection of blue/green, glow/orange, pink/blue, glass/lake, red/teal and silver/pink.

The winners of the colorful Orbee-Tuff Balls™ are Cynthia (crzycoookies), Rebecca H., K-Koira, Em, SvBerges, and Ashley J. Congratulations! The folks at Planet Dog will be shipping your balls right to your door. I just need to collect all addresses in order to do my part. Please send your address to me at AllThingsDogBlog.com. When I've received all 6, they'll go to Planet Dog for shipment.

Before I close, I must share 2 more adorable photos that came in for this contest:

Thanks to Skipper and Schooner!

Oliver is probably wondering what the tiny Orbee-Tuff ball is like, but he has had much fun playing with his Glow Ball. He gets especially excited when I fill it with treats. Yee ha!

Full disclosure: The Planet Dog organization provided us with their balls to test. We were not paid to provide this review and the opinions herein are our own.

One Dog Lover Wins "Living with the Rescues"

Sharon Langford's journey most certainly has been a unique one. As Kristine said in the review, her life is one to envy, although not everyone would wish for it. I'm with ya on that note, Kristine. I could totally enjoy the unconditional love of a houseful of dogs. Yet I also understand that Langford's sacrifices were many.

One winner has been chosen from the comments at the book review post. If you missed the review, you may want to click the link to go back and read it. What a fascinating life this very special woman has led. I find myself thinking of Dianne Fosse and Gorillas in the mist, but a wee bit more tame and a lot more hands on.

The winner of the copy of Living with the Rescues is Shanley W. Please send your address to AllThingsDogBlog@gmail.com so we can get your book out to you.

For those of you who did not win, you still can get a copy from right here. Just click the Amazon ad below to get your copy on its way right now:

This week's Fido's Freebie Friday includes a childrens' dog book giveaway, so if dog books are your thing, you'd better get on over there and check it out. Hope to see you soon.

Be the Change for Animals: Try These Tips for Long Term Pet Health

Our family lives a largely green and organic lifestyle and, as a result, I get a lot of questions. I share many of my strategies in my blog, but here's a few tips that may help your Fido or Fluffy live a longer, healthier, more robust life.
  • Supplement kibble with organic, lean meats and vegetables that have been simmered in your slow cooker--no effort, just great results. A few scoops on top of a lessened amount of kibble means reduced toxins, hormones and antibiotics in your pet's meal. Make it even better by using an organic kibble like Organix.
  • Know your pet supplier's savings programs and take advantage of sales by stocking up on the best food you can afford. Read our article at the link for all the big chain ins and outs.
  • Check your manufacturer's Facebook page or website for coupons.
  • Offer organic vegetables from your local farmers market as nutritious snacks: juice carrots, broccoli, berries, bananas, apples, green beans and more. Mashed organic sweet potatoes make a wonderful filling for a frozen Kong or Busy Bone, alternated with bits of crunchy kibble.
  • Watch the savings add up at the vet when your pup regularly gets good checkups with no health issues. Toxin residues eventually add up to illness.
  • Try switching to natural pest control for home, yard and pets. No poisons means no poisoned pets. We completely annihilated Xena's hot spots when we switched up to all organic pest and lawn care.
If you missed my April installment, you may enjoy Drown Proofing Your Dog on Blog the Change Day. I'm sure the sweet Pit Bull I save from near drowning will agree; it's a worthwhile read, especially with Summer here. Happy tails!
