Greetings!

Happy New Year from Ian, Kelly, and Jamie Dunbar!

January is often a time of reflection, resolutions, and new beginnings. This is why it's an excellent time to review your dog training goals with renewed enthusiasm. We're here to help inspire you to up the ante with the question, "What are you doing to represent or promote dog training in order to create well-mannered dogs?"

Serve

Shelter Dog
Failed By Human

Did you know that three years ago Dog Star Daily declared January Shelter Dog Prevention Month? There are several wonderful programs designed to help homeless dogs get trained and adopted, but virtually none that focus on the prevention of the common training problems that land dogs in shelters in the first place.

The truth is that many shelters are full of perfectly good dogs whose problems began with a breeder and/or owner that simply didn't know how to effectively socialize and build confidence or house/chew toy/manners train their puppy. It doesn't have to be this way.

Do your part to spread the word about early puppy socialization and training. Tell people what to look for in a new pup and how to give a puppy the best first chance in life!

Train

Train a new skill.
10 Minutes A Day!

Training a dog to do almost anything is as easy as teaching 1, 2, 3, 4, then reinforcing heavily and practicing regularly. That's all it takes!

Take a moment to think about a skill you'd like to teach your dog. Is there a particular goal you'd like to attain, but haven't taken the time to train? Or, on the flipside, is there a particular annoying habit your dog's acquired that you'd like to abolish once and for all?

Why not commit yourself to give your dog your full attention every day for at least ten minutes to teach something new? If you do, you'll be rewarded with the benefit of a richer relationship with your dog and some epic new skills to show off as well!

Learn
Keep Learning!
Keep Learning!

Knowledge is power! What better way to serve dogs than to expand your horizons with continuing education. Whether you'd like to learn more about how to blend the science and art of dog training to achieve stellar results, or want to learn how to teach classes and private consultations that produce dog stars, we've got your back...

Dr. Ian Dunbar is touring throughout the U.S. and U.K. this year:

Science-Based Dog Training (with Feeling)

This three-day seminar will focus on a variety of topics that are severely limiting the state of pet dog training.  Dr. Dunbar will explain how to use the findings and methods of learning theory without ignoring the valuable training techniques that are exclusively available to us as humans operating in the real world.

SIRIUS® Dog Training Academy

This 4-day seminar has been designed specifically for dog training professionals.

Dr. Dunbar taught the world's very first off-leash puppy socialization and training classes and he has been perfecting the SIRIUS® Puppy & Dog Class syllabuses for nearly 30 years. SIRIUS now has 20 locations in the San Francisco Bay Area and our instructors have taught over 100,000 families and their puppies/dogs. In this seminar, Ian will share the SIRIUS® way of training and methods of doing business.

Registrants will receive substantial notes, including a Behavior Problem Solving Matrix, the complete SIRIUS Syllabus for Puppy 1, Puppy 2 and Adult 1 classes, week-by-week schedules, plus minute-by-minute class notes.
