Join Me for a Tour of Adopt-a-Pet Posted: 22 Mar 2010 02:08 PM PDT Find me on Facebook Follow me on Twitter Write to Dr. Jacki, ASK THE VET Today I'd like to take you on a tour. I recently became acquainted with Adopt-a-Pet, a non-profit organization that has worked to create a nation-wide search site for 125,000 pets in 8,000 shelters across the country. Their search function is very user friendly, and allows the interested owner to search dogs, cats, other animals, and even specific breeds. Sponsored by Purina's Pets for People, Bayer Animal Health's Pet Parents, and the North Shore Animal League America, this group is out to end the suffering of homeless pets. Their site includes Adopt-a-Pet.com's Blog, which offers posts twice a week. Friday's posts generally revolve around adoptions—good news and inspiring stories. It's a feel good time to read the blog and consider a furry or feathered friend into your home. Tuesday posts offer pet care tips and information on places on the web to find great products, services and information. I really enjoyed their posts, and would like to share a few of my favorites with you:
I could go on and on, but then, so does Adopt-a-Pet's blog, so I'll let you peruse on your own. I'll be back with a follow up post, including a few things about Adopt-a-Pet that you'll find particularly unique. In addition, I'll share some of their tips on your first trip to the vet with your new pet. It's all good stuff, so I look forward to sharing it. While you're visiting their site, be sure to try out their pet search. If you have a particular breed in mind, you're sure to find a new friend available in your area, with little more than a few keystrokes. Good luck shopping for your new best friend! ![]() Follow All Things Dog at Twitter Find me at Facebook ![]() |
