Shall I share the recipe again? Of course! That's easy. You'll find it at this link--my first post of the day. Now, let's let Oliver and Tanner give thanks before they eat. It's been a long wait and they've earned it:

Enjoy the game! I'll be continuing to post on FB and Twitter if you'd like to get into the conversation there. Thanks for joining me for this fun afternoon of pre-game silliness. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Shall we make it an annual event?

Such a Long Day
to Wait for a Football Cookie
Tanner and Oliver have been so good today. They sense the excitement and smell the good smells. Shall I give them their just reward? I was thinking of doling out the first football cookies at kick-off time. It's only a few minutes away. What do you think?

How; It's so Big

Now this is Better!
Oliver has been examining our footballs all day. He likes the strings on the big one, but otherwise, it's simply too big for him to play with. This is more his size, although he still cannot pick it up. Anybody know where we can find a Papillon-sized football? Poor Oliver!

Are you enjoying the Super Dog Sunday Photo Blog Hop? I hope so. I've tried to make sure there were plenty of fun laughs. Thanks to all the folks who submitted their dogs' pictures. Happy tails!

Sorry, Sully.
No Patriots at Super Bowl 2011
Tanner and Oliver are hoping you'll root for the Packers, since your favorite team didn't make the cut. Try on green and gold and see how you look. We think it might be a nice color combination on your fur. Be sure to check out 5 Minutes for Fido, to see your brother's picture. He'll be popping up sometime this afternoon. Happy tails!

Tanner and Oliver can hardly wait for the snacks to start rolling out. They're checking the computer screen for game time, but since they can't read, it's just not happening. They know something exciting is coming though.

Hope you are enjoying the Blog Hop. Keep dropping in throughout the afternoon to see more pictures. Tanner and Oliver are having fun posting at 5 Minutes for Fido also.

Rabbits Cheer on their Team: Super Dog Sunday Gets Pet Hopping

Linda Wilson Fuoco at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Thanks to the Bunny Jean Cook for discovering this gem. In Pittsburgh there was a big event for rabbits called the Bunny Bowl yesterday. They got to run around free in an area set up like a football field--just for rabbits. How clever is that? Our family's rabbit, Robby, would have love to participate in that event.

Marc Adopted Robby as a 'Pup'
In our family, Robby would have to be a Packers fan; it's sort of an unwritten rule. What do you think; shall we ask Marc to pull off a footbal pic with this little nose wiggler?

Duke and His Football

Duke's photo above, submitted to this Super Dog Sunday event, will certainly live on as a special picture for one very loyal reader. Anita has been a staunch supporter of my site for quite sometime, and just yesterday she lost her best friend Duke. Feel free to leave your kind words or support for Anita here as comments. I'm sure she'll be checking in to see her baby. Thank you all for caring.

Duke will have a warm spot in the All Things Dog Blog Rainbow Bridge Memorial, where he will be close to his packmate, Allie Woo-Woo.

What Time Does the Game Start, Mom?

Welcome, dog lovers, to All Things Dog Blog on this beautiful Super Bowl Sunday. Today is our First Annual Super Dog Sunday Blog Hop. I'm more of a FIDO Fan than a football fan so I decided to design a little fun for myself and my fellow Fido Fans that takes up the Super Bowl theme. I guess I also have another reason; my dad was a huge Packer's fan. How 'bout we dedicate this event to dear old dad.! I'm sure he's busy collecting his final bets on the game as this is being read by all of you.

We don't need to watch the game to have our own fun, right? You can enjoy this blog hop by clicking on the thumbnails to visit other blogs and viewing the fun photos of their pups in some sort of Football theme. I'll be posting photos here and on Facebook throughout the game. Bounce around and have a nice time. That's why they call this a BLOG HOP!

If you are a blogger who would like to participate by leaving a pic of your pup, here's the deal:
  • There must be a football, jersey, or TV with a ball game on, as well as at least one dog in the picture
  • Enter multiple pictures if you like
  • Feel free to plug your team with a costume, color scheme or other creative theme builder.
Jump in and show off your little darling or BIG boy for all of us to marvel at. We love princesses with footballs and your Mastiff is welcome to wear a Super Bowl Jersey.

Not a blogger? No problem! Just pop over to my Facebook page and post your pic there. Not into Facebook? Still no problem. Just send your photos to me at LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com, and I'll get them posted for you. We'd love to have you join in! Then you can hop around and look at all the others from here. Have fun with it and be sure to visit some of the other blogs to see their football photos. Remember, commenting is good karma. Thanks for joining in!

Need more help getting into the hop? Here's a Help Page I made up with instructions, photo tips and more: Super Dog Sunday Blog Hop 2011. If this doesn't do the trick, drop me an email at LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com and I'll try to help you out. I'll be on blog duty all day!

Finally, here's the recipe I promised in my announcement post.  I have to say, they're pretty tasty, even for us moms. A tad more molasses and I'd be fighting the dogs for my share.

Peanut Butter/Molasses Dog Cookies

Fido's Football Snacks*

*We used organic ingredients, but you can whip these up however you choose. This recipe was adapted to our theme from one at Dog Treat Kitchen.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk, reduced fat or fat free
  • 1 cup peanut butter (salt and sugar free is best)
  • 1 Tablespoon blackstrap molasses
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Whisk dry ingredients together
  3. Stir in remaining ingredients gradually, until well mixed.
  4. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead to a soft dough.
  5. Roll out to 1/2" thick and use cookie cutters to create shapes
  6. Bake 20 minutes, slightly less if your dough is thinner.
  7. Cool and store in an airtight container.
These treats are quite hard and crunchy, and will be fine in your treat jar for a couple of weeks. Dog Treat Kitchen tells us that you can cook for a shorter time to create a softer biscuit, but be sure to refrigerate afterwards. The harder treats freeze quite well for up to 6 months. Enjoy your Super Dog Sunday celebration. Tanner and Oliver sure are!

Speaking of Tanner and Oliver, be sure to stop in their blog, 5 Minutes for Fido, where they will be posting Fido football photos all afternoon. You'll find plenty of fresh pics here too, so keep popping in to see what's new! Happy tails!
