| Who We Are
Kelly, Jamie, & Ian Recording iWoofs  | DSD is a small family-run operation. Ian & Kelly Dunbar founded the site in 2006 with the idea of using the Internet and the then newly burgeoning video and social media platforms to make quality, fun, easy-to-understand, and most importantly, effective dog training information available to everyone, worldwide, for free. We wanted to do this because trained dogs have better lives than untrained dogs, they are more likely to stay happily in their homes and out of shelters and to spend more time with their owners in the house or accompanying them out and about in the world. Good behavior and time spent together creates a strong bond between dog and owner that cements the relationship and strengthens commitment. As DSD grew, Ian & Kelly realized that they needed help managing the site and creating new multi-media materials. In 2008 Ian's son, Jamie, joined the Dog Star Daily team as the Vice President of Digital Media. Jamie describes his duties as, "graphic design and video editing, with some website and digital sales management, DVD production, advertising and anything else that comes my way!" Ian and Kelly could not have been more pleased with this unexpected and entirely pleasant arrangement. However, none of the Dunbars are technological experts and they needed to enlist the help of a dog-loving web developer to manifest their dream. Lucky they found the extraordinary Jennifer Lampton of Jeneration.com. She's the one that helped Ian & Kelly turn their idea into reality. Thanks Jen! |
What We Do
DSD's Claude, Dune, & Hugo  | Sure Dog Star Daily is a fun place to post or see cute dog photos and interesting videos, and there's also an excellent pack of bloggers on the The Dog Blog to "bone up" on the latest and greatest thoughts on all things dog, but Dog Star Daily is oh so much more! The site is useful to anyone who loves dogs, from the new puppy or dog owner with lots of questions and concerns to the seasoned professional who might be looking for inspiration or supplemental info for their own training programs and protocols. There are even plenty of resources for veterinarians, shelter workers, and breeders. Dog Star Daily has something for everyone! The Dog Training Textbook is a multi-media resource developmentally designed to address many of the common challenges that come up in the lifetime of raising and living with a dog. In each section we offer tips on both prevention and problem solving for behaviors such as destructive chewing and dog-dog fighting.
Trying to get a hold on house training? We got you covered. Just get your new dog from the shelter? Here's how to get started on the right paw. Want to become a dog pro yourself? This is how you begin.
